The CONSORZIO DI TUTELA DEI VINI D’ABRUZZO, based in Ortona (CH), associates more than 250 companies. Its mission is to protect, enhance and look after the interests of the region’s controlled designations of origin. The Consortium supervises, protects and safeguards the appellations, as well as promoting Abruzzo wines nationally and internationally.
The vine-growing area represented by the Consortium covers 33,000 hectares, in which 1.5 million hectolitres of DOC wine are produced for about 130 million bottles. Approximately 70% of production is exported. The organisation, which for years has been protecting and promoting one of the territory’s most authentic resources, has chosen the eagle as its symbol: a tenacious animal with a strong protective instinct.
